Per the tutorial that I gave you, if you merely turn System Restore off, reboot and then turn on again, reboot, you will be automatically reset to default, which is the palce to start. You may want to make a system restore point right away, since the old ones will be lost.

Microsoft has paid employees good salaries to develope the best setting for Vista. That is always the place to start. If you find that you have problems, you can adjust the default setting. In your case, I think default is right. You have a nice, big hard drive with plenty of room for a large System Restore, which is good.

thank you, so the other day when I put 5GB for max was that okay? I did it because my GBs were dissappearing probably because I added to restore points manually.

My Computer

I think that you did not have enough space. When that happens a new Restore Point will replace an old one. Increase space and try for a while and see what happens. If the problem contiunes, we can look for other causes, but I think that you will probably be ok.

When you say gigs disappearing, I thought that you meant restore points. Are you losing available space on your hard drive, which is something else, but easy to solve?

yes, my GBs were at 870 and in 2 days it was 823 GB free of 916 GB, that was the reason why I did this with the restore.

My Computer

OK I will solve that, but first set your System Restore back to default. Check to see if it has been set back to default when you make the change, boot then check. The tutorials will show you how.

After you have reset your SR back to default (and you will be glad one day, when you need it because of a problem)
Make an anti virus scan
Download and make a scn with malwarebytes
If both are negative, use this article to see if the cause is SR. Every new restore point takes space, this it the way SR works.
If it is not SR, it will be one of these other reasons.
