Nvidia 8500GT overclocked temperature

Hey there, i overclocked my Nvidia 8500GT about an hour ago. Naturally i played a few games to test the temprature it reached to make sure it was safe...only problem being, i dont know what a safe temprature is...
I played Borderlands for around 20 minutes, then went back onto World of Warcraft.
It averages around 58-62c but that wasnt after playing for hours on end like i normally do. I overclocked with RivaTuner. So i was wondering, is 58-62c a safe temprature for it to be running on and will that increase to a harmful temprature after say...4 or 5 hours or constant play? It ran at 49c before i OC. Also my final question, my card is quite old, so will it damage it if i keep it OC?

Thanks

P.S Will taking the side off of my PC help cool the GCard? I have just a stock PC, no extra cooler or anything...

Jack

For the record, theres alot more involved with successfully overclocking.

Safe Temps are under 100C, but... your cards old and the heat/cool/heat cycles can crack weld traces.

Now, Firstly, how did you overclock?
Does your power supply have enough to get with the extra power draw?

If you over do your card, you'll hve issues too.

Well guys, my fps crashed to like 15, and now its on 80-100, its insane dunno what happened. I overclocked using RivaTuner, i did auto decect and left it. But i dont know if i have actually turn the speed up at all. Im new to Overclocking, temp is 49 on desktop and thats what it was when it wasnt OC. So i think its back to default again.

Im running a test now with that program you sent me, will post results...

You may have f'd your card... Overclocking needs to be done slowly and safely.

What are the current clock speeds? It should be 450mhz Core, 900 mhz Shaders, and 800mhz Ram.

Its all good now, running wow at an extremely high fps, nearly all settings on max and like 50-70fps.

Gets up to like 74 degress celcius when iv been playing for a while, but thats max temp.

I'd get rid of rivatuner, and d/l evga precision... You'll have to do things yourself though.

While those are finew temps, i'd check your fan speed, and ensure its not crazy fast... or low.. I run mine vat 55-60% and its usually better than auto.
