Updates fail, System Repair fails, System Restore won't work

Hi, my name is Stormy, I'm new to this forum since I really haven't had any issues in the past.

I am running Vista Home Premium 32bit on my desktop. I restarted it a few days ago to install SP1, it rebooted and started installing 3 updates. Once it reached 100% it kicked into System Repair. After running through it, it restarted and did the same thing. Now 3 days later, it's still in that process where it installs updates, goes to system repair, restarts and starts again.

I tried interrupting it and doing a System Restore, but even at the earliest date on it, it goes right back to that repetitive process. Now I can't get to any of my files or anything else on there. I'm stuck, and I need some help please!

You may have to resort to a hard shut down. forcing it to start up and show you the advanced boot options. When you shut off without a shut down , and then restart it , you see that boot window.

When it starts back up, does the F2 ( to get to Bios ) work ? Start tapping right as soon as you see the splash screen .

If you can get it to boot into Bios. you would want to make sure you have it set for booting from cd/dvd drive first, then hard drive second. If you can do that, then do so, then F10 is save and exit. Then pop a repair dvd/cd in and let it boot from that, or install dvd, What do you have ?

If you get the Bios to boot from the cd/dvd rom drive and you use the Ubuntu , you would be basically using that CD/dvd , however, if you follow those instructions and accessed the Vista OS , you may be able to do something, i have never used that or actually performed those tasks myself. I will leave that for someone else with more knowledge than me to guide you on that.
