I need help getting this Vista laptop to boot back into windows. It had a virus once removed it would no longer boot. I'm thinking the boot process is messed up because when it starts up it shows in the boot selection WINPE RAMDISK and Vista Home Premium. Well when I goto WINPE it takes me to the recovery manager so I ran sfc /scannow, chkdsk and claims to have fixed some errors. Well try to boot into the main OS and still just sits at a black screen after the loading screen and before the login screen and can move the cursor in normal boot and safe mode. I've found some possible solutions of pressing ctrl+alt+dlt and nothing happens, tried pressing shift 5 times get the sound but still shows nothing. I cant reformat it yet until I get the files backed up. I tried using the file backup system in the recovery manager but onces its done gathering the files it says to insert USB and I do but won't ever recognize it. I've tried inserting it before the file scan and same ending result. I've checked the BIOS to make sure USB was enabled but I believe the virus is preventing me from fully accessing the BIOS can't get off the main to view anything else. Its weird though because it just let me view everything a few minutes prior now it won't let me. I've tried boot fix and all that stuff and no go still stuck. Needing help!
