Hello Mark,

What item are you deleting, and from what location? If it's from a system folder location (ex: Program Files, Windows, etc....), then you will still get the Continue prompt for UAC approval to delete the item.

Thanks for the reply, Brink.

Things I'm trying to delete: pics, docs, txt files, executables and on and on. Can't think of a file type that is immuned from the popup confirmation.

And the location(s): Desktop, my user folder and C:\ drive are the primary locations.Created my own folder and named it Wallpaper and put it in the C:Drive folder for easy access. Confirmation dialog pops up when deleting content in folder or the folder itself.

To date, I cannot find one file type in any location that does not receive the deletion confirmation.

Anything on the Desktop (pics, link, etc.), anything directly on the C:\ drive. Created my own folder and named it Wallpaper and put it on the C:Drive folder for easy access. Confirmation dialog pops up when deleting content in folder or the folder itself. Anything in I create and place in my user folder.

I just can't find a place that doesn't give me the confirmation popup.

Mark,

As a test, create a new administrator account, log into it, set it to not display a confimation prompt as well, then see if it still displays in the new account as well.

Created the new Admin acct as requested and changed the Recycle Bin's properties to disable delete confirmation. Worked beautifully. Whatever I created, whether it be on the desktop, user's folder or hard drive, deletion of same would occur without the confirmation window appearing.

FYI: I have a program (Ultimate Windows Tweaker)for tweaking Windows settings, but that option is not available in the program

That's good news.

Well, we know that's something just in your old user account now. You could try enabling the prompt again in the old account, apply, then disable the prompt, apply, to see if that may toggle it to work again.

If not and if you like, you could use the new account instead of your old one, and just copy what you want (ex: shortcuts, files from within user folders, etc....) to the new account.

Thanks, Brink. I'll just tinker with it. Not going to go through the hassle of setting up the new account for the sake of a popup window annoyance. I added to my comment that I have Ultimate Windows Tweaker, but not resosponsible for this inconvenience. Do you know of other commonly used programs that I could have installed or used as an .exe that changes this setting? (just a longshot!!) Glary, CCleaner, etc.

Thanks for all you help.

Mark

Nothing worked so I attempted the best fix of all time....Restart. Voila. The delete confirmation window no longer pops up.

Would the .reg file (Option 2) from your previous post work on Vista as well because I was going to try it until the problem resolved?

Thanks, Brink.

LOL, well you gotta love the ole restart fix. ;)

Yes, that REG file could be used in Vista and Windows 7.

I'm happy to hear that it got itself sorted for you.
