MP4 thumbnail on DVD-RW not showing

Hi,

OS: Windows vista home premium
Language: Japanese
Codecs: Already installed.(Preferably K-Lite full pack + updates)

Today I ran disk cleaning and after that I noticed the video projects I had saved on DVD-RW only MP4 format stopped showing thumbnail which is very frustrating.

However, video files on computer with different formats as well as Mp4 are showing thumbnails.

I wonder if I need any kind of setting for DVD-RW to show Mp4 thumbnails.

Any advice, suggestions or help will be appreciated.

Thank you

Hi,

Try this work around from

Thumbnails for mp4 In MS Windows Explorer « Ranza Research

Please note: - you are working in the registry so proceed with caution: -
Hey, there is an other way around
install any codecs You want
aand then edit Your Registry
create
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.MP4
in there create new key – name it “ShellEx”
right click the created key and again “new”==> key
enter {BB2E617C-0920-11d1-9A0B-00C04FC2D6C1}
then click the created key and “SET VALUE”
set it to

Hi,
Thank you for reply.
I hope you have noticed I do not got thumbnail problem for video files which are saved on computer.

Only the project files saved on DVD-RW in Mp4 format are not showing thumbnail.
Rest of the format such as avi, wmv, mpeg are ok.

Therefore, do you think I should proceed with the procedure you have given?
Thank you

On a DVD-Video, there aren't any files with the .mp4 designation, even if you burned a mp4. They would be things like .vob, .bup and .ifo. You can check this out by just opening the DVD with Windows Explorer.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.
I am not saying DVD it is a DVD-RW usually used for backups.
Before running Disk cleaning every thing was fine. Even there were thumbnails.

Thank you

My apologies for not reading your post closely. I saw "video projects" and assumed your burned a DVD-Video.

I wonder if the problem is that the program associated with mpeg in Control Panel, Default Programs is different than that in Control Panel, Autoplay.

Hi,

Thank you for reply.
No I did not burn videos, actually I write tutorials and they were saved as Mp4.
Few minutes ago, what I did,
Open DVD-RW and on the Icon of a Mp4 I clicked the properties and associated program(which was already associated)in my case that is a Windows Player, However, Real Player also worked, both showed Icons of MP4.

I guess when I ran Disk cleaner may be something went wrong (may be)

I appreciate all of support which I received from forum members.

Thank you
