My computer is unable to start and startup repair is unable to repair my computer aut

My computer is unable to start.*
I had a problem with viruses yesterday but I resolved that and my computer was working normally this morning.*
When I try to turn it on it says that I need to launch startup repair. I do that but then it says that my computer was unable to start and sartup repair is checking for problems. After waiting a while it comes up with a message saying 'startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically. Sending more information can help Microsoft create solutions.' So I click 'send information about this problem'. Then I comes up with 'windows cannot repair this computer automatically' and suggests that contact the computer manufacturer. I can 'view diagnostic and repair details' or 'view advanced options for system recovery and support' from this screen. I don't know if that is of any help.*
I have tried safe mode but it doesn't work. I have a Toshiba an imputed and windows vista. Please help.

Suggestions :

1. Restore to factory state using your recovery partitiion.

2. If you have the Vista Installation disk. Use it to do a Repair Install

3. Contact Toshiba and ask for a set of recovery disks. The cost is minimal and you should have them.

Good luck.

Re: My computer is unable to start and startup repair is unable to repair my computer

Thankyou :) the first option was going fine until step 5 as there isn't a Restore Application option. There is Startup Repair, System Restore, Windows complete PC Restore, Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool, Command Prompt, TOSHIBA Recovery Wizard. The problem with option 2 is that I don't have the disk.

I don't have a Toshiba so I can't tell you what's next at step 5.
Perhaps you want to ask Toshiba Support.

You can also use my last suggestion and while ordering a set of recovery disks, ask to speak to a technician. See if the tech can show you the way.

Toshiba installed the Recovery Partition, not Microsoft. They know exactly what to do with it.

How about trying the Startup Repair first, if no help, Toshiba Recovery Wizard sounds promising.

Toshiba recovery wizard is the option that I'm going with. The only problem is that it deletes everything on my computer. Does anyone know how to backup files and the like before I use it?
