Hi,
I got VB6 installed in my Vista.
One day, I found the .vbp icon in the file explorer had been changed by perhaps the antivirus (while the .vbp icon in desktop it is still remain as before).
I want to change back the .vbp icon in the file explorer:

Regedit
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
VisualBasic.Project
DefaultIcon
C:\......\Microsoft Visual Studio-2\VB98\vb6.exe,16
I tried to changed to
C:\......\Microsoft Visual Studio-2\VB98\vb6.exe,1 or
C:\......\Microsoft Visual Studio-2\VB98\vb6.exe,32
However, after restar my Vista, nothing happened.

Can you help?

Since vb6 is no longer supported by Microsoft, I installed visual basic 2010. There is no entry in the registry for visualbasic.project.

It's possible that the default program in Control Panel for this is not correct. In my system, the default program for .vbproj is Microsoft Visual Studio Version Selector.

1. Now, the .vbp icon in the desktop is different with the .vbp icon in the file explorer (include in the folder under desktop). Do you know why?
2. Why there is no effect after I changed the setting by Regedit?

I don't know the answers.

Go to Control Panel, Default Programs and Associate a file type......................... Find the .vbp and change the program it is associated with to the one you want. I notice that the icon for the VB_web.exe (the only file VB 2010 installed in my desktop folder) is different than the icon in default programs for .vbproj. I assume that's because it's not associated, literally, with a visual basic project.

I had installed Visual Basic 2010 just to help you. You can't believe all the programs it installed on my system. I uninstalled them all this evening. It would have been easier to do a system restore.

Let us know how it turns out.
