Solved 23 minutes for boot time after a system restore.

Closed as requested
After trying to start in Safe mode, (I don't remember the reason) the loading of safe mode stops at windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys the same happens with the selection of safe mode with internet connection.
With the other options like repair computer etc. There is no action except the load bar of Microsoft.
Each time I have to hard shut down and then start the PC.
I can do the normal shut-down sequence once the PC is back on.
Then after shut down, when I start the PC back on, it takes again 23 minutes to load.
Most of this time the monitor stays black with only the Microsoft loading bar showing.
Once the Window logo shows, it takes another 4 minutes before the desktop start up.
However, once the system is up and running, everything works normal.
A thorough check for possible malware was done, but none was found. I also did a HDD test with SeaTools, see below.

The test from within DOS showed both the short and long test show passed. However, it still takes the 23 minutes or so to finish the boot sequence.
I did not see a way to copy the result, however it stated 'passed', which is a contradiction of the Windows based test.

Any one can give me some idea if the HDD is close to a complete crash?

I am now running the chkdsk and will get that Crystal screen shot as soon the check is finished. The one suggestion to leave the PC on that stalled file, did get the PC to the safe mode, but it still took 23 minutes+ plus to start.

Now that I am thinking about it, there is a good chance that it might be a driver.

I just ran the sfs and chkdsk, but do not know how to retrieve the logs. I looked in the event viewer and the last notation was event id 3002 from the chkdsk scan.

Your hard drive is better than mine. Mine is caution, so all my stuff is backed up. Yours is good.
The cause of your problem is a driver. Do you get BSODs?

No, the only problem is that I could not get into safe mode or restore. Now I can get into safe mode after waiting for 20-30 minutes.
Now the main issue for me is the reboot time. Everything works normal after the start up.
If this bad driver can be fixed, that would be great, otherwise I will just avoid having to re-start.

There is no problem with the actual speed of Vista, it is strictly the boot up time that changed about 15 days ago from 3-4 minutes to 23 + minutes. Also the fact that as I have found out in the meantime, If I try to go in safe mode, I have to wait appr. 30 minutes before the desktop comes up. Other than that, the computer seems to run normal. PS. I have the log of the SFC scan.

Did you add any software or make changes.
If yes remove
If no
Make a system resotre point so you can go back to the current time. Then go back with system restore to good times

I think I found the problem, I happen to look in the device manager. The VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller was flagged with a warning. Whereas this warning sign was there before this problem started, I disabled the device to check and indeed, the computer used the same boot time as before 3-4 minutes. Now when I try to enable the device, my computer freezes. (tried it twice) What should I do next.

Create a system restore point and go back a week before the problem started.

I see only dates going back to November 16. I could not find a way to create an earlier date.
I did the restart, (took again 23 minutes or so) and a statement came up windows could not load the VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller. I looked again in the device manager and it is there, but yellow triangle flagged again.I looked on Google to download one, but while there are many sites who profess to have them for download, first you have to get their "driver checker" then they scan the system and it is then, that you have to buy their membership/registration. Beside this slow start and difficulty to get into safe mode (at least the same amount of time to boot), my computer works good.

Click on the little arrow by the controller in device manager. Mine shows texas instruments. Then right click on (in my case Texas Instruments and then update

I did this twice already Now 3 times.
Since my computer boots now like before with this controller disabled.I am going to leave it as is.
