ACER Aspire 5100-3357 CD/DVD Drive Issue

Hi Everyone,
I recently downloaded a ISO image of Vista SP2-32 bit from a member here in the forums. The computer I'm typing this message on is the one I put in the Thread/Question Title box, I couldn't get the file to download correctly..so I downloaded it on my newer computer that's running Windows 10. I burnt the ISO file to a blank DVD disc, I tried out the disc in the computer I created it on. The disc was read correctly, and the prompt appeared on my screen asking me if I wanted to boot from the disc..of course I didn't so I ignored it and just let windows 10 boot normally. I tried the same disc in my older acer computer and the light on the disc drive blinked off and on but I never received the screen prompt to boot from cd. Then the light went off and windows vista just booted up normally, I went into windows explorer and my cd/dvd drive is listed there, but evidently it's now defective. I inserted a store purchased/original music cd and thought it would start playing automatically, but it didn't..the drive indicator light blinked off and on like it did previously when I had inserted the iso file disc I had created on my other computer. So, I've ordered a replacement drive for my laptop..as I'm rather old fashioned..I don't like to give up on something, I would rather try and get it fixed.
David

Do you have a question for us or just wanted to tell us a story? It sounds to me like the drive is dead but it could also be the data cable is loose/bad or the motherboard port is bad. Since the drive is recognized by Windows I am leaning towards the drive being bad. They don't last forever. Do you hear the disc spinning?
