Chkdsk problem , what to do?

Computer ran chkdsk. Gives the message "Recovering orphaned file (some whatever hex #) into directory file 10181. Its been doing this for about 12 hours now. Now what, i hope u tell me to wait it out

nope. Would u believe it ran 4 7 days! My pc ran 4 2 days after that and then 4 no reason the same exact problem happened again ( to the same file, 10181 ). Guess my hard drive ( boot up c: drive) is going bad. Im gonna open up my pc in a couple of days to determine what kind of hard drive i have and order a replacement. I have everything backed up

Hard drives do go bad. How old is your drive? The good thing is their not expensive not to mention a new drive will put you at ease. Glad to hear you had backup. I constantly run into drives crashing and the owner has zero backup. Let us know the outcome when you install new drive.
