vista updates stopped then all the hacking attacts adware etc. I fixed it 2016.

I increased my systems security to the max. used Mozilla . when I would go to common safe web sites I would get audio and video unwanted stating my computer will explode and no long be working you must call microsoft tel # or click here .. if you do not your computer will blow up.

so I thought about this for a few months . in may 2016 was the last time I got any microsoft updates.. I do have it setup to check for updates but to have me select what to install.

What I did was since vista is dead and no updates will ever return I shutdown the update searching set up to not look for updates. well I am no computer hacker expert but it worked . I guess the hackers use the mircosoft update portal to enter our vista computer system and give us all this interference on using the computer when on line.

since this has been set to off completely ,, no adware and also complete system scans on boot up ,, no virus has been detected.
PERHAPS MICROSOFT IS DOING THIS SO YOU HAVE TO BUY A NEW COMPUTER ???

Vista was the worst operating system they ever made perhaps 2000 was also a looser. apple has taken over with all the issues Microsoft has caused us with these systems .

For a few months? It obviously was/is malware and you needed to act immediately. Quickest way would have been to reboot to Safe Mode and start System Restore to go back before this all started.
Also Vista isn't quite dead yet, extended support ends April this year. So updates are still coming in for it.
What antivirus do you have? Make sure that is updated and see if you can run it in Safe Mode with Networking. Also check out Malwarebytes Free: This tool can be downloaded, installed, updated and run all in 'Safe Mode with Networking' if an infection blocks it in regular mode.
Malwarebytes | Thank you for downloading Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

BTW IMO Vista Ultimate was the finest OS ever made and I miss it.

First off, Vista with SP2 integrated (and using the x64) was an extremely stable OS, and it ran quickly on appropriate hardware. The RTM of Vista, yes that had holes in it. Windows 2000 was far from being a looser, and up until Windows XP x64 Edition, it was my favourite OS. What is it that you don't like about these systems?

By the way, Vista is still in extended phase support until April, so there are still updates for it.

I started with dos . I have used all these microsoft operating systems . also working in a place where computers are used to actually do important repair work , windows XP was , and for me still ,the best operating system. ya I still have it , but ITS for off line work now. since it has not been on line for many years ,still works perfectly . loaded with all types of useful software. when Microsoft tried to kill my XP I pulled the plug on the internet.

on the vista quality , well everyone has an opinion LOL.. windows 2000 was rejected by all of us in the real world of using computers to actually do important work.. all sorts of hardware issues .

my thinking was over a few months to figure out why my vista was messed up. why this microsoft update was not working. contacted microsoft talked to tech guy very helpful he said vista is no longer supported . you will NOW have security risks.........he said..

during this think period I did boot scans and with this update still turned on I would have security issues and my antivirus would find adware virus in the scan. not a lot but a couple .

after I turned off microsoft update completely no more virus and no problem going on line ..
for those reading this DO NOT USE INTERNET EXPLORER .... this is another portal for hackers I should have stated this on my first post ....

I a few days ago watched the interview of the past microsoft CEO and he said vista did hurt the company's profit because they had to use so much time to fix it ..... YA at least one person on the media programing tells the truth...a long an interesting interview for me....explaining how the company worked to expand and produce these systems.

Yes IE in Vista is not secure. Best use Firefox, but I do recommend turning updates back on as they are still coming in for Vista until April. Even though you may have abandoned IE, still accept updates for it as background systems sometimes use it despite your settings, so best keep everything up to date.
If you had pressed the Microsoft person on the subject he/she would have told you about extended support ending in April.
They are paid to get people to upgrade, don't forget.

The last six versions of Chrome do not support Vista. Firefox is also planning to end support for Vista, but it is still a good choice for the time being. There is no longer any point in turning on automatic updates in Vista unless one is acquainted with the issue discussed in windows update just seems to hang while checking. (not that anyone in their right mind would want to read that entire thread), and the workaround that is perhaps best described at Microsoft Community. However, even the workaround is yielding diminishing returns now, and here comes another Patch Tuesday...

Various websites IE9 regarded as obsolete and unsupported already at the end of 2015. MSE for Vista no longer be applied since 2016 - although it offers Microsoft for Vista, but when you install the PC always freezes. Therefore, as I use Panda AV, and as a web browser Maxthon.
