The Reliability and Performance Monitor found in Vista keeps a heap of data sets for response times, processes, configuration data, diagnostics, debug logs, registry keys and performance counters. This tool will help you diagnose windows errors, slow performance or anything else you would like it to help you track down.

1. Open the Start-Menu and search for Performance Monitor.
2. In the performance monitor there is a folder called "Data Collector Sets" found in the left open it and click "System"
3. Here you will find some default diagnostic tools to run on your vista machine, just right-click the name and click start, scroll down to the Reports folder to view your results.

You can also add your own customised monitors under the Data Collector sets folder for a more complete view of the systems performance handling, Just remember too many sets might slow your system down and vista allready runs a Reliability Monitor every hour.

This tool will point anyone in the right direction to solve issues they are having with vista or the hardware, Include the report in a support request and it can help diagnose the problem very quickly. Its proberly the most usefull feature found in vista.
