Digital DVI Monitor not Working

I have a Viewsonic 10 inch Model VX2025vm that has Analog and DVI inputs. I am running 2 EVGA 8800GTS Video Cards. I installed the Monitor Driver but Vista64 is only recognizing the Analog channel. I have used this monitor with XP using both Analog and DVI inputs with no problems. When trying to set up multiple monitors, using an older Analog Monitor to boot up while having the DVI monitor on the second card, Vista sees both monitors as analog giving me a blank screen on my nice wide-screen monitor.

Why won't this monitor's DVI work with Vista64? Am I doing something wrong? I want my DVI working... Please help:geek:.

Is this monitor set as your Primary or Secondary Monitor in vista or Nvidia Control Panel? Perhaps a conflict between both options? Are the drivers you trying to use 64bit or 32bit only?

Sorry, no solutions here... just ideas.

i'm using one monitor with an analog and dvi input on it, and they're both connected to the computer. I can start up the computer and it shows the progress bar for vista, and then the digital output goes off. I have to switch to analog on the monitor to be able to log in. In vistas display settings, it shows both outputs but the dvi one is disabled and at 800 x 600. It detects my monitor (ViewSonic VX2245wm) for the analog but not the digital. I can't change anything related to the digital output (tried this in nvidia control panel too.) latest 64bit driver from nvidia is installed too.

Hi there, I am having the same problem. My viewsonic is disabled and I cannot enable it....I had no problems in XP.Vista seriously sux.

My Computer

Have you got SLI enabled?

You can't use the second graphic card as a monitor output if SLI is enabled. With the new drivers, you can put 2 monitors on the primary card, but the display ports are disabled on the second card with SLI.

Nah haven't got SLI. I tried it the 2nd monitor in VGA mode and that works. My 2nd monitor is a viewsonic VX2025VM. This really sux DVI doesn't seem to work for that in windows VISTA. I might need to do that reset trick where I have both VGA and DVI inserted then shut down pc , unplug power cord etc... Will let u know if that fixes it but now its 3:00 am and I already spent 3 hrs trying to sort this out *sigh*

I read somewhere that I need to plug both of them in dvi and analog then then it will display analog in windows. Then i need to shut down and remove the analog then unplug the power cord for like 30 seconds then it will work.Haven;t tried that yet. Will let u know how it goes.

what i think has happened is that because you have both analog and digital cables plugged in, your monitor should have a source button, like changing the channel, but if your monitor doesnt have a source button then its autodetecting only the analog input, remove the analog and the monitor should pick up the digital only.

I tried changing source etc.. once i put digital it goes signal not detected. The thing is this monitor works fine on MAC OSX, windows xp etc... just doesn;t want to work in vista. I think there is some compatibility issue with VISTA, NVIDIA and that viewsonic. Its really weird coz i have another dell monitor which had no fuss to work in vista. AnywayS, I tried that trick of plugging both and draining the power and leaving the dvi on. I am also checking this forum:

NVIDIA Forums > My DVI-Vista fix

seems like other people have the same problem .

My Computer

Anyone have anything new to add to this forum, I am having exactly the same problem now... one monitor (primary) HDMI connected, the other is on the DVI port of the nVidia card (GS 9500 SL), during post, the DVI monitor displays the progress bar, but then disappears when Vista initializes into non-VGA mode. The second monitor works fine on another computer, and as I mentioned works fine during post. It is an IBM tft monitor. Interestingly the monitor is NOT in sleep mode, which is normally indicated by a yellow LED on, no its green indicating On and with signal - just a blank screen. The nVidia control panel shows both monitors (HP W2408 and the IBM 9497 T86A), however Vista only shows the HP, the secondary monitor is Generic PnP (which is not surprising since there is no native IBM tft driver for 64 bit Vista).

The problem is this setup worked flawless up until about 2 weeks ago, and I have tried everything I can think of... (Yes I have rolled back release levels thinking there was a fixpack or something that came along... nada). I have the latest drivers for nVidia, etc. I am at a loss to explain or debug this further, its very annoying though to not have two monitors. So if there is any thoughts out there... send them my way.

Thanks...

I basically tried everything from installing older drivers to removing analog and then putting digital etc.. changing source.. but nothing works. I reverted by to xp and everything works fine. Vista is probably one of the worse OS i ever used. It was clunky slow kept asking if I wanted to allow deny allow deny ....Xp is much better :D
