Multi GPU Mode Versus Multi Display

I have a 9800 GX2 card and always want to run two monitors. In the Nvidia Control Panel set-up under 3D settings and sub heading "Set Multi-GPU Config" I have the recommended option of Multi-GPU Mode, but if I select that, the second monitor stays blank. I assume because my card has two GPU's internally SLI connected and you (to date) can't run two monitors when SLI invoked?

Assuming that is correct

1. Is Nvidia working to overcome this major hurdle of SLI and 2 Monitors?
2. If I use Triple Head to Go, will this allow me to select Multi-GPU and still have two monitors and will I have better performance?

When you use SLI, the secondary GPU shuts the output off, so you can't connect a monitor to the second GPU. It's always been like this with Nvidia SLI. I'm quite sure if you use an external multi-monitor device, you could set multiple monitors up while still haveing SLI enabled.
