There will be no problem with the mobo, but I recommend a 750 to 800 W power supply, so it's more future proof... As for a card I'd go for a 9800GTX or something.. Im getting a 9800GTX+ for christmas...

Good power supply: Newegg.com - PC Power & Cooling S75QB 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI NVIDIA SLI Certified (Dual 8800 GTX and below) CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies

Good GPU (except for the black edition, best 9800GTX+ for it's price, by XFX): Newegg.com - XFX PVT98WYDDU GeForce 9800 GTX+ XXX 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

I have the 9800GTX+ and its a great card but if you are looking for cheaper the 8800GT is still a great card and a good upgrade from the 8500gt. Plus it doesnt take as much power, though I would still recommend a better PSU.

I just installed the PCP&C 750 Quad today actually.. I've had it for about 2 months, but just installed it. It's running my Quad Core at 4.0 Ghz, and my GTX260 highly overclocked.. It's an amazing PSU and they are rated as some of the better out there. I'd say get it. as it's a great PSU. or the Corsair 750TX is a good one also.

As for the GFX Card. the 9800GTX+ is a great card. but if your going to spend $199 for it, or from the LAME TigerDirect $189.99.. you might as well get one of the best cards out and get the GTX260.

the old one with 192 Stream Processors is what I have, and it blows the 9800GTX+ away. and it's the same price. cuz they now have a new one with 216 SP.

get this.
Newegg.com - MSI N260GTX-T2D896 OC GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

or even better, for $19.00 more you can get a Free Far Cry2 game, the best GFX Brand on the market witch is eVGA. they have a Lifetime warranty unlike all ATI brands. and even better with the eVGA. is within the next 3 months if they come out with something new. you can send your old one back, and pay the difference and get there new one.. and in January they are releasing some new stuff. so I'd strongly recommend you go for eVGA. I'd get this personally... much better than the 9800GTX+ and JUST AS good as the 4870.

Just to balance this out (for ATI) :)

If you're even thinking about getting an ATI Radeon 3870...run! Instead take a good look at...an ATI 4850. Great card for the price & performance!!!

Price & Reviews: Newegg.com - ASUS EAH4850/HTDI/512M Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

Thoughts on card: Rate the 4850 ! - Rage3D Discussion Area

I replaced my 3870 with this card and absolutely love it. And yes...it outperforms both the 3870 & 3870x2, and I might add, it's a single slot card with no heating issues. :)

I have to say that after what I have seen of the 4870s(X2) cards I would avoid them like a rouge virus.

They are burning hot. The ones I saw were ideling at 80c. The fan would not raise up above 27%. I had to install gainwards tool to get control of the fan and cool it down. But it never did work right.

The owner of that rig finally told me he had already returned 2 other cards that had the same problem.

He finally got 2 FX280s and went SLI. He's been happy as he** since.

I use a 9800gt ultimate ASUS card and am totaly satisfied. But that 260 deal posted above is really sweet. Its the way to go with out a doubt.

If you're a gamer and want performance at a cheap price, the 4850 is the way to go, and it can be had for around $170 at newegg.

As to the 400 watt power supply, I can't say if the card will or won't run, that'll depend on the power demands of the whole system.

If you look at my system specs, i'm using an Antec Neo HE 550 watt PS pushing 3 HD's, 2 DVD burners, an overclocked CPU, 4 120mm case fans, a CPU cooler with fan, a 4850 video card, and 4gig of memory. This system's been running a year now without any power problems.

Unless you're running duel 4870's or GTX260's or something like that you don't need a mega (as in wattage) power supply.
