What does 'blocked' mean in Port Status

I've been using FolderShare for awhile, and it seems to be working OK.

When I look at the Port Status page in the Settings, it shows four ports
listed. Under the heading "Initiate Connections", all of the ports say "OK".
Under the heading "Accept Connections", all of them say "Blocked".

    Is this normal?

When does "Accept Connections" come into play, if at all?

If it matters, I'm running behind a firewall with NAT.

Yes, You will always get that when your network uses NAT unless your
router has been configured (manually or by uPNP) to forward those incoming
ports to the LAN address used by the computer on which you are running
FolderShare. Any firewall on that computer would also need to be
configured to allow incoming FS connections on those ports.

I don't know the type of situation where it is intended to help and also I
have not yet come across one where it did help. See below.

I run FolderShare on computers both with and without NAT I have never seen
any performance improvement between having Accept Connections shown as OK
    versus them shown as Blocked.
