1. Right click file/folder to be shared go to properties
2. Go to sharing tab
3. Click advanced sharing
4. Check share (Check permissions on the same pane)

Other users on the network got Access Denied issues.

So i went back to the advanced sharing, Double checked to make sure "Everyone" Had read access to the share. They did still no luck

So then what I did was.

1. Right click file/folder to be shared go to properties
2. Go to sharing tab
3. click share
4. change permissions
5. Keep "Everyone"
6. Remove Administrators

That did the trick apparently I think because the Administrators have Full access there must be another step to loggin in remotely through a share.

So in this case removing administrators and keeping everyone as reader group did the trick

I hope this helps

I've been having this problem for awhile now. Fresh install of Vista64 and want to share 2 of my 4 hard drive with two other computers on my network. I only have "Everyone" listed under the Advanced Sharing tab and have given full rights to read change, etc. The other two computers see the drives fine but give error messages when trying to access them. It says that it is available but my user account I'm logged in on was denied access... I don't understand how that is possible when "Everyone" is allowed access. I don't have Administrator listed so I can't try your suggestion. The other 2 computers are an XP Pro and Vista64 and they have the same issues. Very frustrating to say the least!

Edited to add that I've tried adding permissions for Administrators and Network but that hasn't helped resolve the problem either.

Administrator is found in the Simple user friendly sharing way... Click share instead of advanced sharing..

Thanks for your reply. I would but that option isn't available, meaning that button is grayed out for me.
