New ASUS Laptop with Vista 64 bit Home Premium and Office Standard 2007 Upgrade. Office Standard was installed by Geek Squad. Then, when MANY MANY problems cropped up within a couple weeks, they reformatted the drive and reinstalled Vista and Office Standard again. (Don't get me started about Geek Squad!). Two versions of IE8 are installed: 32bit (path under "Program Files (x86)") and 64bit (path under "Program Files").
Open 64bit IE8 directly and it works just fine. However, open a link (such as from an Outlook received email) and both IE8 32bit and IE8 64bit open simultaneously and lock up. Can only close the two IE8 apps via Task Manager. Can't uninstall the IE8 32bit as it is not listed within Uninstall. Manually open IE8 64bit and copy/paste the url from the email, very inconvenient but no problem.
Geek Squad says "give us more money and maybe we can fix it", even though the problem occured immediately after their Office Standard installation. Ideas?
