Please help with file sharing

I know this has been beat to death. I've searched this forum and google and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I have a new computer, Vista that I can't get file sharing to work. I have it turned on and can see the computer but when I try to access it I get the message I don't have permission etc. I did get print sharing working

The computer I'm using that I'm trying to access from also has Vista. It's the one with the router. I have a notebook on the network, xp, which I can access just fine.

The "new" computer I can see the other two computers and access their files

Any suggestions? It's really important that I get this working for school work.
I have everything checked correctly in the network card. I've turned off my firewall and disabled Kaspersky,,,what am I missing
Thanks

Still no luck, I can see the computer, and I can see the files I have marked as shared but can't open them. I can open the public one.
I know I'm doing something wrong on the new computer but darn if I can figure it out. The hand is there on the folders showing them shared,,,but if I go to show shared folders it's blank. In "Network" I have share folders checked. I'll try it again tomorrow
I keep going over and over the instructions, and usually pretty good at following them. What in the heck am I missing
Thanks again for your help,,,I hate Vista

I think you are not authorized for all the microsoft vista facility. so, ask all of this matter to microsoft and they provide online help or tool. When i have this issue i solve from one Semsim.com company. Because they provide online training, so they have solution. SemSim is internationally acclaimed Cisco CCNA exam router simulation software that helps aspiring candidates prepare for the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification exam. For more information about Cisco ccna and Ccna exam.

I went to the link you provided. Guess I'll just have to live with what I have. I don't have enough sense to use it

Password sharing is turned off, and I don't have one on either computer.
I was fussed at for doing a quote wrong. Sorry but I'm not sure that I know what I did wrong. I won't quote again

Thanks

sometimes a simple restart can fix any problems, i found this is normally the case whenever i connect a new computer to my network, try restarting all the systems and make sure that uPnP is enabled on your router for the "new" computer :)

Can you try this Karen, right click the folder you are trying to share and go to properties, click on sharing tab and go to share, click on change sharing permissions,
sharing.jpg
Now click on the drop down menu and add a guest account if enabled previously, if the guest is not showing, then simply enable and then disable the guest account under user accounts in control panel, after adding the guest, set it as the co-owner and click share at the bottom, click done after its set the permissions then click close, restart all relative PCs and see if you can access the folder from your network now :)
