This message comes up whenever I try to open any web page, then the website closes and reopens (but still doesn't work). Two days ago, everything was fine, but I cannot even access my default home page properly. I have downloaded Safari as well, and initially opted to use that instead of Internet Explorer, but even that doesn't work well (although it is much faster). I was thinking maybe it is because I downloaded Safari, and they aren't compatible together?
I have done a McAfee search for bugs - but there aren't any. I have reset Internet Explorer, but that didn't help. The other users on this pc do not have the same problems as I do on my user account. Please help! This is incredibly frustrating.

@Josh - I'm using IE 8, should I download the latest version?

@Richard - I've already got results from two full scans I performed over the past couple of days. But I will create a new user account & see how that goes.

No Do not download IE 9 This is only a Beta and is only Recommended when your System Is Fully Operational

If it's something related directly to your user account, the problem is most likely in your %appdata folder for the user in question. I think the quickest solution would be to move all the files you want to keep that are located in said user account (move to a non user folder ... ie c:\backup), delete the user account, restart, and then just recreate the user account and move the files back into the appropriate locations (easier if you leave the file structure alone when you backup the files you want to keep).

PS - You may want to look into getting a diff browser ... IE is terrible.

Hi guys, I tried all your suggestions, including starting a new user account. I found out someone else who uses the pc downloading 2 programs containing viruses, and now IE (not just with my user account) is running super slow & and doesn't load pages properly. I found out typing: regsvr32 actprxy.dll using a administrative command, helped at 1st but then, it just went back to being sluggish. Yes, IE is crap. Does it cost anything to download another server like Firefox?
As a last ditch attempt, is there anyway I can sort of rest the whole pc? What are the pros and cons of that?
Thanks for the help so far though!

Run a full anti virus scan
Download and run a full scan with malwarebytes, be sure to update.
Then report results.
You can get another free browser, but this problem must be corrected first.

Yes, I would recommend Firefox. If you go with Firefox I also recommend you grab these addons (adblock plus, better privacy, extended cookie manager, noscript, refcontrol). Those will effectively make your browsing experience safe and ad free.

I also agree the problem you're experience is more systematic, meaning you need to find the source of the issue with a good scanner. There's tons of free scanners out there, but I happen to like Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware scanner as well. Make sure you grab it from their site ...
