Should not be a real problem, as the Tablet has no dvd/cd drive, you will just have to set it up manually, for example , for it to use your router, you just would need to install the password manually for it to use router wireless. As far as the router, just hook it up per the setup dvd or set it up manually per the router manual which can be downloaded in a PDF format .
If she is using a friends router for the wireless. she just needs the password.

I think Yard dog he needs a bit more how to..

Cal... I'm not sure which this "tablet" is? Is it like the ipad or is it the netbook type?

Next question is what is the operating system? Android?

Vista/win7 and Android is easy to connect.

Windows ->Right click the network icon and click connect to network -> Select your network, put your key in and youre done.

Androids just as easy.

Find the settings -> go into Networks -> Wi-Fi settings -> Select your network and add your passkey.

That should get you going..
Unless you don't know your passkey ;)

To setup a router you need a PC. It can only be setup if wired to a system with an ethernet cable - and that you cannot attach to a tablet.

Wow, I totally missed he wants to buy one, thanks for pointing that out whs

Guess i should drink the coffee before responding in the morning, instead of just pouring it.

You actually don't need to be connected if you get the right router. My Asus was like that, but its not cheap.

I dont think i could honestly answer the OPs question now, but all you do need is a laptop to do the initial wired up connection to be safe...

I've never actually tried connecting to my setup page with my phone, so I'm not sure if you can properly setup a router without a "proper" system.

If you get a Netgear router, attach it with the ethernet cable and put 192.168.0.1 into your browser search field. Then hit Enter. That will bring up the router setup. The user name you need is admin and the password is password (not very innovative).

From there you can make the whole setup. Make sure you set a WPA2-PSK password on the Security page.

I am assuming she connects to the internet already, are you wanting to use this router as an access point ? If so, just get the router, You set it up with a password and security on your PC, then just have her access the router by using the password you have set up for it. As an access pt, this should give her more wireless range around the house, depending on where you put the router, I hope i am understanding your issue correctly, i apologize if i am not " getting " what the issue is.. Hope you get this worked out.

Hey Calmet... You can't attach a ethernet cable but routers are becoming smarter too so its not needed.

Most people don't use the disk to setup their routers.

When you get the router, you just need to plug it in like i described above, but instead of connecing your computer, you use the tablet to connect to the router, then you can properly secure router through the "browser" on the tablet. BTW Browser is Androids default web program.

It seems like this is rocket science, but when you actually try it, you'll be like DOH! this is simple.

You do not need to send anything to the tablet. Once the router is setup, it is ready to go and you can connect with the tablet with the WiFi. Read the tablet booklet. It will tell you how.
