Hi
Is there a quick way to disconnect and reconnect to the internet?
In some cases I would like to use the full computer for a local task and not devote resources to the internet or security programs.
I would like to keep the local network connections that consists of laptop computer, the desktop computer a shared external disk drive and a shared printer. Both computers are running Vista SP2. The router is ActionTec M1424WR .
Thanks

Not use internet but be able to connect to other computers ? I do not think this is something you would just disable and re enable while still having networking enabled. Why not just not use internet ? The computer does not go onto the net by itself, you have to put an address in the navigation bar . Maybe someone has a " quick way " but, i do not see any " quick " way to accomplish that while still being able to connect to other computers.

Thanks for the reply,
I am doing some DVD creation from VHS tapes and the process uses a lot of CPU. I thought if I could safely shut down the anti virus program and the firewall along with Spybot's resident (teatimer) the creation process would be faster.
I guess it is not worth the trouble.
Thanks

I see no problem shutting those down, specially spybot with the TeaTimer, saves you some resources for sure. I just could not figure out how to stay connected to other computers , unless you straight wired to them, while turning off the network adaptors, but, yeah, go ahead and disable the firewall and antivirus if they use alot . Stay safe !!!
