Solved Internet Slowdown

I've been having this problem for about 3 weeks:
When I turn on my desktop, internet speeds are fine. Then after 2-3 hours, it slows down to a crawl-
it can take as long as 1-2 minutes to load a page. It's not the internet provider, Verizon, because a laptop
on the same network works fine. This seems to happen every day. I've tried defragging, checked for viruses, etc.-
but nothing seems to work. If I shut down the computer and restart, it works fine again for awhile.
Any ideas? Anyone have this problem before?

Is it just internet browsing that slows or all computer tasks?
If it is all tasks check your temperatures and fan operation.

Pumseig, welcome to the Forum

Lets try one solution at a time. Run a full antivirus scan, download and scan with the free Malwarebytes.
Malwarebytes | Free Anti-Malware & Malware Removal
Although you mentioned that you checked for virus, try with Malwarebytes if not done already.

Download and run the free CCleaner.
CCleaner - Free Download or try CCleaner Professional - Piriform

Try a different browser, ie. Chrome, IE, Firefox etc.

Well, I downloaded and ran both of these programs. And it seems that my internet problems are fixed! Thank you very much for your recommendations- I'm glad I found this forum!
