Windows Vista vs Windows 10

Hi,
I decided to drag my computer out of the dungeon and try to install windows 10 on it. I haven't used Vista in years and am surprised to even find a forum for it! Anyway, I'm having a lot of trouble trying to install Windows 10 on it, but then I started to question why I'm even trying. I only want to use the computer for browsing the internet, email and as a word processor. No games or anything. Is it "ok" to still use Vista? even though it's older than ....dirt??
Appreciate your thoughts on using Vista.

I have a Win10 computer and a Vista computer. After reinstalling the Vista computer back to original factory shipping configuration, I applied the updates, rebooted, applied more updates (all to Vista) until there were no more updates to apply. Then I pulled the internet plug from the computer and I used the computer strictly offline.

It runs just a nicely as it did 10 years ago when I first bought it. Office 2000, CorelDRAW, and other apps run without problems.

Pull the plug. You'll be glad you did! ;)

I run Vista by choice. Still has that old time Windows feel and serves my needs. I also have another system with Win 7 but prefer Vista. Biggest issue with Vista is finding a browser that works for most things. I use Opera, IE 9 and FireFox, depending on which one will access the particular websites I want to access. For instance, I need Firefox to access dropbox. Win 7 doesn't have that problem right now. The only reason I use it is because I have one piece of important software that doesn't support Vista or earlier.

No reason why you can't install Win 10 on that Vista system unless there's a hardware related problem. Based on your description of what you do in Vista, Win 10 will serve your needs and you can run that word processor by first specifying the suitable compatibility mode in the properties for the installation file.

If you want to install Win 10 and are having problems, you should answer the question from z3r010.
