Hi

I an unable to download/ install programs at this point and hope someone can help.

1) I have downloaded AVG antivirus program but it won't let me get updates, but I can run the program.

2) I managed to download Spybot s&d to desktop but when I try and install the program I get the following message:

Error sending request
A connection with the server could not be established

3) I managed to download Ultimate Bet but the main page says it cannot display the webpage

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate on a Acer Aspire5680 laptop with a wireless connection to a telus 2wire router/modem.

I assume you've restarted your computer a few times since you posted. Any changes, or are things still stalling?

It looks to me like you've got a firewall blocking outgoing access there (possibly as far as blocking all outgoing connections).

Thanks for replying,

Yes I did reboot a few times and I think it has something to do with my telus 2700 hg-e router/modem. I've read that it has a built in firewall and it conflicted with Zone Alarms on my computer and I couldn't access the internet after lengths of inactivity. I finall shut off zone alarms and my comp is working fine now.

The problem is with my wireless laptop and heres where i get lost in trying to figure out whats wrong. I can d/l programs but can't access the program (Ultimate Bet-This program cannot display the webpage) or get the updates(Spybot-Socket Error #10061 connection refused). I then rebooted the laptop into safemode and was able to access Ultimate bet and get the updates for Spybot. I ran Spybot, Kaspersky antivirus, ran checkdisk all to no avail. Will look into firewall on router blocking outgoing access, but that's something I am definitely not familiar with.
