Hi jordanjerome,

Give us a description of what exactly is happening when this occurs and anything you have done (installed hardware, software) when this first started happening. You might want to list your system specs as well to give these guys a better idea as to what is happening. You can try running a memtest and running SFC and checkdisk if you haven't already.

Well I went to go update my drivers after doing some research. And there is one driver that I cannot update. So I disabled it and not the BSOD is not happening. The only thing I did was update my RAM from 3gb to 4gb but I bought one from a computer store here in Okinawa. I am in the military and just here for a couple more weeks. Anyway I just disabled the driver and I dont know what exact driver it is. I went and tried to find the manufacturer and it is not listed. Any other advice? I am not computer savy so I dont know what to list. I might need help there too!

I would go to Device Manager and see if you can find the disabled driver or any other problems.

You might try a system restore as well.

Take out the memory you bought, 3gb is plenty for 32 bit as it can only take up to 4gb and really does not use all of it. You would not need to disable a driver just because there's no update for it. Run those tests as well I mentioned.

You might find info on the disabled device in System Information. Type in sys in the Start menu Search bar and you should see it.

You can find more info on your specs with a program such as HWINFO32, SIW, PC Wizard 2008.

Make sure you are getting the correct driver updates for your specific drivers.
My advice would be if you're not too PC savvy, then it might be wise to do some more research on how do do these specific things. Brinks tutorials have a lot of info on a variety of topics.

well the driver that I cannot update is a storage controller it says manufacturer unknown when I do try to look it up to see if there are any updates. What is the storage controller. I get the BSOD mostly like when I want to use my built in cam, play a game. The RAM was upgraded over a month ago with no problems at the time. I dont have the orginal one to put back in. I mailed it off back to my address. Since I bought the Laptop from the Sony Store in San Diego is this something that they can fix? I mean it means me not playing PC games and stuff for a while. I also did the MEM test but dont know how to do a SFC. The mem test said nothing was wrong. I uninstalled the driver and then tried to re-enstall is but no use. It still says there is something wrong with it and I still get the BSOD. I wish I tool some computer classes so I would have a better understanding of all this. Oh and in case I never said it. Thanks for all your help people.

I think I will just go to the computer store and see if they can fix it. I cant roll back the driver, and when I tried to do the SFC it said I dont have administrator privs. But yes when I looked at my account it has me listed as an administrator. Thanks again for your help if they cant fix it then I guess I will use the warranty I still have and wait until I get back home. I mean I can still use it but just not for games and such Again thanks
