  1. Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
  2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow
The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.
  3. Or try to recover using System Restore.
What is the exact nature of the progam's problem (error), and what's the software in question?

If its a 3rd party installed program that is not a part of Windows, there may be a compatabilty issue. try reinstalling the software, and/or use System Restore. File corruption may be a result of Registry cleaners or Malware, and may require O/S reinstallation depending on the severity of the corruption. Also try System Recovery to try and "undo" the changes. You can scan for and remove malware for free here.

If the program files themselves are corrupted you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the program(depending on the Copy Protection/Licensing used if any of course.)

If you remove an MMORPG and reinstall it, you SHOULD be able to use it proplerly.
If there's a problem with the updater it has, it should only be a temporary problem.

Also, even their own updaters can be the cause to file corruption on those games.
You should check their forums.

uhh no
i herd that if u reinstall maplestory u wont be able 2 patch it
If you dont want to repair/reinstall then your choices are limited. You have not the knowledge or programming skills required regarding Maplestory files/folders to distinguish what is missing/corrupted, or causing registry issues, and therefore it is doubtful you will be able to fix it.

How do you do what? Check their forums? You should know to whom you've registered. The game has many publishers, and each one has their own forum.

For all the rest, this is very common with MMORPGs, there's no need to scan the hole computer nor use system restore.

The most simple fix for that, is as told, reinstall and let it patch again.
Sometimes, just running the patcher (usually is just the launcher) downloads mismatched files. Although it depends on what method it uses.

You understand there is a compatiblity issue with Maplestory and Vista, right? that is why you had a corrupted install.
The only way to get it to work is to run it under XP emulation

To properly Uninstall/Reinstall the program you need to open the nexon file, click Uninstall or Install.
