Hey, i'm trying to figure out why Window's ReadyBoost isn't showing up in my Autoplay options... I have all the requirements, updates etc, and im using a microSD chip that should work with it. i have a friend with the same computer (Gateway p-7811fx) and he uses the exact same chip and it gives him the option... anyone know what might be the problem?

Right click on the SD card in "Computer" and go to Properties. Then check in the Ready Boost tab what the story is. It will probably say that device does not have sufficient speed for YOUR system. The fact that it works on your friends PC does not imply that it will work on your system.
SD cards are not really suitable for ready boost. Even if the system accepts them, they will not give you a performance boost because they are too slow. Get a USB stick with a fast read/write speed (e.g. 20 MB/sec).

go to the start menu and type in the search bar, "services.msc" continue the uac prompt and in that random list, find ready boost, check if it is saying disabled or manual, right click and go to properties, click the drop down menu and select automatic if it is disabled then click start. put a drive in and watch it give you the option.

This maybe late but there's a chance it could help someone else. The advice given helped me up until a certain point, which was the same as omgitjesus, who still found readyboost not responding. After following MrNeeds great help, you may need to right click the drive and choose properties, on the readyboost tab, click the button "use this device" and set the level of required memory. Hope this helps
