New Problem w/ Photoshop CS3 & Vista x64

Hi all, new to the forums and stumbled on you guys almost by accident.

Anyway, just replaced my 5yr old laptop to get photoshop cs3. 8G Ram, huge hard drive for photo storage, quad processor, the works. Oh, and Vista Ultimate x64. Tried to register with Adobe and they said my Serial# on the box is bad. I want to get to the Help menu on Ps so I can confirm if it was just mislabeled, but I can't get the program to get up and running. I just get a gray backdrop and the endless spinning of my mouse cursor. I've tried un/reinstalling, running as admin, and running regsvr32.exe on jscript.dll and vbscript.dll. The only thing that has improved is now Ps doesn't automatically go into a Not Responding mode.

I was just going to buy the upgrade to cs4, but I figured I need the cs3 I have to be registered and activated, both of which I can't do without the serial key, which I can't get to because I can't open the help menu. Any of this making sense? Anyone out there able to help???

Wow, 5 days, 56 views, and not a one response. I guess I really stumped you guys, huh?

Anyway, I'm suffering from another problem now, one that might be a little easier to solve. I found the clean script files and ran them, with no improvement. I also heard somewhere that there were some problems with Adobe Flash being installed. So I figure, uninstall it and try to install Photoshop. Everything seems to work out just fine, except now I get a message saying that Ps didn't install correctly. Bridge installs just fine, but nothing else does.

Seems like things are just getting worse...
