Application has stopped working error

Hi, My laptop runs Windows Vista Business. It also runs F-Secure PC Security Shield. I recently downloaded and installed Amazon's Kindle for PC Beta software application. When I try to launch this application, an error message gets displayed which reads as "Amazon Kindle For PC Application has stopped working" with two options, Debug or Close program. The Close Program action shuts down the application appropriately. I have given below dump of the log when I take the action of Debug on the error message window I described above.

The user id using which I log into my laptop has adminstrator rights. I have tried running the application 'as administrator' (any ways) and did not get a different result. I tried changing the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) feature setup as prompted / suggested by the system via certain help messages and did not find any change in the behaviour.

Interestingly, if I am not connected to the internet, the same application loads successfully. I suspect this might be caused by the F-Secure PC Security Shield, however, I am not sure if that is 'the' only root cause. I would NOT like to consider an option of switching off F-Secure PC Security Shield.

I have not sought help from Amazon yet which could be one option.

Suggestions, comments are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem. Using Vista x64 and the f-secure software. Amazon has no solution, nor do I. Just wondering if you found one yourself.

Looks as if adding the exception would be the only thing that might work, of course it may open a can of worms with all my other software. Not sure I will try it yet. I'm letting Amazon deal with it but I dont expect any solution from them. I've not read of anyone else (other than the originator of this thread) having the problem.

Thanks for you help, it is most appreciated. At least I better understand the purpose of DEP.

Just FYI, I decided I would try making the exception. Turns out Windows will not allow you to make an exception for that program. So, looks as if it is a software problem, but just think more people would have had an issue, but I cant even begin to imagine all the possible permutations that could exist. " Vista x64 " doesn't really cover it all!!!
