New router interfering with WLM voice calls

Hi There,

I just got a brand new router, a D-Link dir-655. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium. I use WLM 2009 build 14.0.8089.726.

I bought my new router yesterday and set it up and everything is working as it should except for one thing. Voice chat over messenger on my PC is not working properly at all. I can connect a pc-to-pc call and the receiver can not hear me, however I can hear them. I know my mic works fine I have tested it in other applications without issue. When using my old router connecting a pc-to-pc voice chat call was never a problem, But now with the new router, it is. I have tested other voice chat programs, ventrillo and even a voice chat service in the mmo I play and they all work fine. The issue is I can't talk to certain people using those services, so I need wlm's voice chat service to work.

The router is set to the factory default settings but I have set up a few rules becasue of bandwidth issues (the main reason for the new router). The rules I set in places are using the QoS engine. They are as follows:

Name: My PC
Local IP range: (my ip to my ip)
Remote IP range: 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255 (default)
Priority:100
Protocol: 6 (this number is greyed out, I can't change it) TCP
Local Port Range: 0 to 65535 (default)
Remote Port Range: 0 to 65535 (default)

Name: Laptop
Local IP range (laptop ip to laptop ip)
Remote IP range:0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255 (default)
Priority: 225
Protocol: 6 (this number is greyed out, I can't change it) TCP
Local Port Range: 0 to 65535 (default)
Remote Port Range: 0 to 65535 (default)

Everything else in the QoS Engine is set to default settings, I haven't changed them.

The only other thing I have done is set up Access control for the laptop, which will block certain content from being accessed. The laptop isn't mine, so I can't check if voice chat works there. The problem is on my PC.

I have tried opening ports on the router for WLM for the voice service as listed on WLM's website, but that did not fix the problem. On the port forwarding section this is what I have done:

Name: WLM Voice Chat 1
IP Address: (my pc's IP)
TCP: 443
UDP: 5004-65525
Schedule: Always
Inbound Filter: Allow All

Name: WLM Voice Chat 2
IP Address (my pc's IP)
TCP: 5061
UDP: 5004-65525
Schedule: Always
Inbound Filter: Allow All

Name: WLM Voice Chat 3
IP Address: (my pc's IP)
TCP: 80
UDP: 30000-65525
Schedule: Always
Inbound Filter: Allow All

Name: WLM Voice Chat 4
IP Address: (my pc's IP)
TCP: 443
UDP: 30000-65525
Schedule: Always
Inbound Filter: Allow All

Name: WLM Voice Chat 5
IP Address: (my pc's IP)
TCP: 1863
UDP: 30000-65525
Schedule: Always
Inbound Filter: Allow All

The check boxes next to each port forwarding rule is checked to ensure that it is in place. Even with all this the voice chat service still isn't working. So I am at my wit's end. I know it has to be an issue that the router has with WLM because, as I said, VC pc-to-pc calling worked fine with my old router, but now that I have a new router it's suddenly stopped working. Coincidence? I highly doubt it.

Can anyone help with this? I also apologize if this is a repeated topic, I did do a search of the forums, but did not find anything, so I apologize if I've missed it. I appreciate your assistance.

Somehow the problem fixed itself. When I had the ports blocked it wouldn't allow me access to me mmorpg, so I have to unblock them. I don't know what was wrong but somehow it fixed itself.
