Solved Log in failure.

Hello, for quite a while I have had an issue with MSN 9.0. It begins to log in with the two spinning "buddies" icon and then after about 5-10 seconds it will just stop and present with the log-in screen again. I downgraded to 8.5 which works apart from it doesnt let me use webcam with other people who have 9.0.
I did some quick research on google which told me I need Service Pack 2; except Windows Update for whatever reason isn't coming up with the update.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Great, thanks for that, downloaded successfully. Another question, windows live messenger requires me to install "Windows Platform Update".
Any idea as to where I can download this from as the provided link does not respond.

Thanks.

Hm, that hasn't come up in my update list so is there any other place I can download it from?

The only way that I know is by the update. You may have to call MS support and get it from a CD if you cannot get it from update.. There may be a nominal charge.
Actaully, you probably did receive the update already, a while back.
Check hidden updates.

With SP1 and SP2 and all the updates that followed SP2, you should have it all.

In any case, is there any way to re-download it or do you only get one chance.

If you did not mark it to hide and its not downloaded you will keep getting that download.
I think that you have it donwloaded.
Boot the computer and try to get Messenger again.

In addition wait one or two days. Now that you have SP2, you will probably get more updates.

Ok well I re-booted twice but no difference. So like you said, I'll just wait a couple of days and see what happens.

Thank you for all your help.

Well you were right, the platform update followed a few hours later however, now another problem has arisen. I installed it and restarted my laptop, it began step 3 of 3 update configuration but at 0% my laptop restarted again and is continuously restarting at the same point every time like a loop. In the end I got tired of it and booted in safe mode and system restored to before I installed the update. I tried it again just now and the same process occurs. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Ricky.

Actually, I have used that tool in The Seven Forums, with two additional.
I did not suggest it here, because was doubtful that you could use it with the endless loop. If you can by all means read this thread, my solutions and the solution the problem
