Solved I really need some help with Java!

Hello,

For a while now I've been trying to update to the new version of Java, but every time I do i get the following:

"Unable to handle error code 0xe."

followed by:

"Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

Now after getting these errors, I visited the help section of the Java website on "Error 1722". It says the solution is to:
  1. Remove any traces of the failed Java installation by uninstalling Java
  2. Download and install the offline installer package.
Shown here: Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.

Then when I try to uninstall previous versions of Java (there are more than one, Java 6 Update 7 seems to be the problem one.), I receive this error:

"Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."

I could not find this error on the Java website.

In a nutshell, for months now I have been attempting to get the latest version of Java, only to get the errors above. I've searched many times on Google and even these forums for an answer but I still haven't found a solution. I desperately need to fix these errors and am willing to try almost anything to fix it. I would very much appreciate any help you could give me.

Thank you,

hello, thanks for your response!

i used CCleaner to remove Java 6 update 7 because Revo Uninstaller wasnt doing the trick, but there is still a problem..

under programs and features (where you uninstall programs) is still shows Java 6 update 21, but in CCleaner it is not showing, and Revo Uninstaller isnt uninstalling it either (i believe it is Error 1723). and im trying the methods on the Java site to fix that error but its not working (it says to try uninstalling it and using the offline java installer, but neither work)

also, on the Java site i tried detecting what java version i have and it says i have none installed (previously it said Java 6 update 7 was installed, but since i deleted it with CCleaner it says i have no version installed)

Lastly, when i try to just install the newest Java version i get the Error 1723 again.

Any ideas?

thanks

Something not right, run it again, make sure to use Command prompt, Start button, all programs, accessories, right click Command prompt , okay it, then type the sfc /scannow and press enter . then see if you have the text file of results .

while the scan is running, i have a separate question.

After I exhausted all options to try to fix the problem and if it doesn't work, I'm thinking about a reformat.

If i purchase windows 7 (currently running vista) and install, will that reformat the computer or do i need to reformat using the vista disc first (which is currently at my other residence)

lastly, im assuming reformatting will fix this problem? im aware it should be used as a last resort
