Line-In audio passthrough on bluetooth headphones

I have recently got some bluetooth headphones, which are all working fine, and will play music from the PC. The only problem is that I would like to be able to play my guitar through the computer, and in order to do this, I have to un-mute the line-in. This is easy for my speakers that are connected to my SB Audigy, as I just go to properties-> Levels and unmute it.
The problem is that when I do this on my headphones, the only level available is for volume, and there is no way of un-muting the line-in. I have read around and it seems that it is possible to add the level in by going to the registry and adding a key called EnableInputMonitor. The only problem is I don't know where to put this key. If anyone knows this, or any other way of enable the audio passthrough, I would be grateful.

Thanks

p.s. This picture helps show the problem:

Ah thats better, I updated your post for you too...
anyway back to the sound issue,

Change the name for the "Speakers" and reboot, they sometimes conflict using two devices with identical names.

Give it a try and let me know.

Cheers

Tried that, and it still isn't giving me any more than the volume to change. I have read elsewhere that it is up to the drivers to say what is available to be changed in that tab, but my drivers are just the default bluetooth audio device drivers, so I don't know where I can get any alternative drivers.

Thanks for your help so far

Hey Jr1104,

Are there any markings or ID somewhere on the device or a names for the driver installed by windows?

My Computer

The driver that is used is the TosRfSnd.sys, which is part of the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack. I have installed the latest stack available of the Toshiba website.
The headphones are Sony DR-BT50's, although there are no drivers available to them.
I have tried other bluetooth stacks, but this is the only one which works correctly and allows me to listen to music.

Thanks

Does the BlueSoleil bluetooth stack work with this device? Im using it for my bluetooth headset...

No, I tried using the Bluesoleil stack with another bluetooth dongle, and it kept saying it was unable to pair with the headphones. I'll try it with this dongle and see if it works though. The dongle I'm currently using is the Logitech BT receiver that came with my wireless mouse and keyboard.

Edit: Can't seem to download the Bluesoleil software from their site, so that's a nogo. I have also tried the Widdcom stack, but that had problems with connecting and skipping, although I did get it working breifly, but when I did it didn't have the level for line-in either. I think the best thing to do is to find all the different drivers which include a bluetooth audio device driver, and then see if any have the levels already added in.

My Computer

Well, I did manage to get it downloading, but it was going to take over a day, so I cancelled that. I have however found a link to the older version 5 Bluesoleil software. I tried installing it and it said it couldn't find my bluetooth dongle, but it does have a folder full of drivers so I will test a few of them and see what I can do.

EDIT: Well, after trying that I have learnt some things. I tried forcing the Bluesoleil Audio Device drivers onto the headphones, and it partially worked, in that it connected briefly, but it kept crashing the Toshiba bluetooth software. When it did connect though, I had a look at the sound properties, and it showed 2 other levels, 1 for volume and 1 for midi. The only problem is that these aren't the levels that I need, and these levels had no slider for volume.
You said that you had a bluetooth headset connected? Maybe you could check and see whether you have the different levels in your sound properties.

Thanks

Since there doesn't appear to be away to do this, maybe someone knows of a peice of software that is capable of replicating this function?

The problem isnt software its your hardware, unless your device manufacturer releases a update allowing you to use it properly it will never work...:(

I use bluetooth headsets with no problems because I checked for compatibility before I bought it.

So on your headset do you have the option to unmute the line-in, because if you do I'll look into getting a dongle that works with Bluesoleil.

My Computer

I've tried using Bluesoleil and although it all works fine I still don't have the option to un-mute the line-in, so I've taken the easy way out and order a sony bluetooth audio adapter that I can plug into the headphone socket on my soundcard. This means I can use these headphones just like my old ones, and I don't have to mess around with software.

Thanks for all your help on this, and although we may not have sorted out the problem, we've still fixed it.

Thanks again.

Dmex - have you used the Broadcomm BlueTooth drivers, and how do they compare with the Bluesoleil drivers? I have a simple BT dongle that I use with BitPM to keep my telephone synchronized with my PC, and with which I can use my Motorola HS-850 monaural headset when in a pinch for communication / listening to music.

I cant compare them with Broadcomm BlueTooth because ti doesnt run with my USB dongle.

The Bluesoleil application does everything bluetooth is capable of doing with support for much more, I wouldn't swap it for anything :geek:

So I have a similar issue - I would like to monitor the input from the Bluetooth headset microphone through the PC headphone jack and/or the HDMI output. I use the latest Bluesoliel softwre and they have a phone monitor option, but apparently it doesn't work if you are using just the headset. Thanks in advance for any advice. Joel
