Different Vol Sound Same New Computer?

I purchased 2 new computers, Dell Inspiron 530, with integrated RealTek Hi Definition Audio. On one computer the sound is louder than the other from the get go.

I haven't modified anything, and am wondering if this is due to something faulty or is there something I can repair/check?

They both have the same driver, 6.0.1.5548

Any suggestions? Thank you!

Hi! Amelia! Welcome to Vista Forums!

Try this: Right click the volume icon in the task bar n click on playback devices.

Next, Select your default sound output [it'll have a green check mark] and click on Properties at the bottom of the window.

Now, head over to the Enhancements tab n look at whether or not Loudness Equalization is checked.

If it is checked, try un-checking it and then click OK and close all Sounds windows and see whether the loudness has disappeared.

Hi Dragor, thank you for the quick response!

With both computers, it was unchecked when I went to go look.

Should I do something else?

Hmmm... does your problem still exist after you check it on the affected computer?

Look, ideally, it is supposed to be a great option which boosts audio when a movie has very low audio and also vice versa i.e. lower volume if a movie has too high a volume.
But this thing has its quirks, which I notice when I turn on my Stereo speakers. The volume shoots up no apparent reason sometimes.

Having said that, I leave it on if I am using my headphones cause it really does a good job in this case.

Hope this helps.
