I have a sony vaio vgn nr11z/s. There is no stereo mix. This is not about right click show disabled or disconnected. It does not have stereo mix. Sony disabled it i think as they did not want people recording or streaming.

I cannot use snagit. there is no sound from the speakers if recording a youtube for example. I got virtual audio cable and with that i can record with faststone capture screen record and have sound.

But i prefer snagit. Is there any way to get a virtual stereo mix or something that will let me get sound on snagit like virtual audio cable lets me get it with faststone

That is no problem. All versions of Vista are supported on the forum. I don't have the answer to your audio issue. But somebody else may chime in. :)

Googling "virtual stereo mix" does yield some results, but I can't vouch for anything personally. I have used both Stereo Mix and Line In (laptops typically lack the latter) to record with Audacity freeware.
