The window pops up, whenever I try to open Task Manager, or Command Prompt.

How do I kill processes if I cannot open the Task Manager

My Computer

The fake Microsoft Security Essentials Alert pops up, even when running in Safe Mode, preventing me from bringing up my Malwarebytes Anti-Malware program. Task Manager is also prevented from starting up.

Ashvin, thanks for your comments. Unfortunately, before your comment was posted, I contacted HP support who recommended I return the PC to it's factory settings by using HP's Recovery Manager program. The reason I say unfortunately, is because the Recovery of the OS worked fine, but the backup of all my personal data didn't. Now when I try to restore it, it comes up as being corrupted.
Any chance you know of a method of trying to get at a corrupt backup file?

Richard,
i did the same..but i didn't see any of these entries in the 'list of processes' under 'Image Name'

4. End the following processes. To end a process, right-click the process and select "End Process."

antispy.exe

tmp.exe
