    Samsung smartview and AV programs.

I have Samsung smart TV which has a great feature “Smart view” this allows you to select files on your PC to be viewed on the TV it worked perfectly with the free AVG until a few days ago and it now blocks smartview I swapped over to Avast which also blocked it, so I tried Scanguard this also blocked it? Windows security centre is running at the moment and does not block. Any suggestio please.

Normally, one uses a streaming program to view things like video on your TV. Are you using anything like that? If so, you could set up an exception for the .exe file in your anti-virus program, if that's actually blocking the access.

There are a number of others things like your graphics software or Windows Defender which could also block access. Then there's the connection process for your network to the TV.

Thanks wither 3 I have progress of sorts but would love to know:

    1. What is so dangerous about ‘Smart View’ that requires it to be blocked?

    2. How can Avast be changed to allow ‘Smart View’ to operate?

    I must add that
Avast also slowed down my computer, particularly so with email loading which takes forever?
So AVG, Avast, scanguard and Total AV have been relegated to the scrap heap.
I have noticed that this problem has been going on for a while, some posts on the www are dated 2015?? so I decided to give Avira a try out and what do you know it does not slow down my PC and does not block ‘Smart View’

I wasn't talking about Smart View. I was talking the program (s) used to provide the content to your TV. I don't know how a anti-virus program on your computer can block a program on your TV (maybe I'm not smart enough).

If you go to Network and Sharing, is Media Sharing enabled? Is your TV shown on the network? Are you streaming by Wi-Fi or is your computer connected to the TV by Ethernet (CAT 5).

Norton Security is not free but, for me, it doesn't cause these kinds of problems. I got two years coverage for up to 5 computers for $99.

As I alluded to before, and now that you've identified that you're using Wi-Fi, you must be using some kind of software for streaming your content to your TV. For example, I use Nero MediaHome for that purpose. When I have made the right selection, equivalent to Smart View, on my LG, it will see the Nero MediaHome library and allow it to stream whatever media I select. My TV has to be shown in the network in Nero MediaHome.
