Access to window texture

Hi,

I'm not sure which newsgroup to ask this on, but I am wondering if there are
new ways within Vista to get access to the graphical contents of a window.
For instance, the window selector and the start menu are good at showing
"live" views of windows. Is there any way to get access to the window
graphics through the new DX/WGF infrastructure that is better than getting
DCs and bitblting?

thanks,
kel

I've found the answer to part of my question in the form of the DWM thumbnail
APIs, but that still doesn't seem to give me enough control to map the images
onto textures for DirectX tricks. Is there anyway to draw the image to
something other than an HWND?
