One day, we`ll have this power in a desktop. Compare todays desktops with the Sage Computer at 75Kips ( IBM-SAGE-computer ). And that was the ultimate in those days (1965).

Finally beating out IBM's Roadrunner, the first system in the world to break the petaflops barrier in the summer of last year, it was third time lucky for Jaguar as it finally topped TOP500's 34th list of supercomputers with 1.759 petaflops.

Really fast ? I was console operator for a Cray YMP-2 some years ago, teraflops. Had to be cooled by a man made coolant and a large cooling system that took up a very large room down the hall.

I doubt a home user could afford it though. Over $1,000,000 USD.

Well, the external hard drive racks, the large tape back up system, the air conditioning and humidity control, the electricity consumption, the suppport crew in 24x7 shifts, the very large 12 cylinder diesel engine backup power system, cost more than the computer.
