Any particular reason you haven't upgraded this system to Vista Service Pack
1?

I would suspect that either libmplayer.dll or AVSVideoDecoderFilter.ax are
on your system. Are they?

When did this problem start happening?

You can probably find excellent tutorials online about how to search for
files on your system, or you could use Explorer's built-in Search ability.
Or heck, ask a computer-savvy mate to help look for those files in return
for a snack.
I'm really bad about explaining things, sorry. =\
