Can't Play DVD on a Hard Drive

Hi there!

I just got a new computer and it's got the Windows Vista Ultimate on it.
I've never used it before so I hope this post makes sense.

It's got software already installed, including the "Windows Media Center". I
have two problems I can't figure out.

1. I can't play my DVD's
The software can play a DVD if it's on disk, but all my family movies are on
my hard drive. The new computer has a lot of disk space so I don't want to
put them on to a DVD. When I click the button 'Play DVD HD' it only comes up
with my DVD drive. I have a folder C:\DVD and have added it to the library,
but they don't show up. I followed the instructions on a previous post
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/co...bf9dc9f&cat=&lang=en&cr=US&sloc=en-us&m=1&p=1
and have followed the instructions to add DVD library under the Microsoft
article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/930526 but it still
doesn't work. Any help will be appreciated. I've got lots of movies in there,
and have tried putting them in VIDEO_TS folders, but I'm completely stuck.

2. The new computer has lots of things including a remote control and a
small infrared receiver but I can't get it to work with Windows Media Center.
Actually, I don't know if it works with anything else! The remote itself
seems to work. I put the batteries in and there's a little red light that
flashes when I press a button. Everything is connected right. Again, any help
would be wonderful.

Thanks in advance for any help anybody can offer me. I'm really excited
about the computer, but I've already had so many troubles with it.

Open Windows Media Player, from the Toolbar, File, Open.... navigate
yourself to the folder which has the VOB files in it and click on the first
one. WMP plays VOB files just fine here.
