Change width on INPUT TYPE="Button"

L
#1
I have some buttons that are very wide. I have been looking for weeks trying
to see if I can narrow them.

Below is the script line I would like to change.

<Input Type="Button" Value="Look Up Conference / District / Section! It will
be used for the states where all subjects test in the same district and/or
conference as Non-Core Subjects." Width="77" Name="PY" OnClick="ACQYK()">

I have tried many different solutions, none of which have worked.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or how to do it?

Thanks in Advance

I think the real problem is with your button caption.
It should just say something like "Look Up". If it needs
an explanation you can put that under the button.
You can also use the TITLE attribute to produce a
tooltip on hover.

If you still need to adjust the button you can use
CSS, which provides far greater control than just plain
HTML. With CSS you can control the font, background
color, text color, button border, etc. You can also
control the width. Try the example below. (I set width
at 200 px but it's still too small for all of the caption to
show. If you're going to use a specific width to cram your
text in then you should specify exact font-family and
font-size so that the button works for all of your viewers.)

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE></TITLE>
<STYLE>
#But1 {width: 200px;}
</STYLE>

</HEAD>
<BODY BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF" TEXT="#000000">
<Input Type="Button" ID="But1" Value="Look Up Conference / District /
Section! It will
be used for the states where all subjects test in the same district and/or
conference as Non-Core Subjects." Width="77" Name="PY" OnClick="ACQYK()">
</BODY></HTML>
