Compatibility with Netmeeting

Netmeeting doesn't exist in Vista it has been replaced by Windows Meeting
spaces. This allows groups of people to exchange ideas. I haven't personally
tried it, so i'm not even sure whether there is video capability.

Alternative option is MSN Messenger or something similar

In fact, you can install Netmeeting 3.01 from Microsoft Downloads on Vista.
I used compatibility mode (NT 4.0) for installation and it works without
problems now (even on the 64-bit version)

Borys

Now that one I must try. I was under the impression Microsoft were getting
rid of Netmeeting altogether and that it wouldn't install on Vista. Thanks
for that borya!

Greetings:

When I try to install NM ver 3.01 on my Vista (build 6000), Vista tells me
that "This version of NETMEETING cannot be installed on this version of
windows"

What versions are you running so that it works?

Thanks

Hey,

6000 is the one I am using here.

It still does not allow me to turn on "Remote Desktop Sharing" so if someone
has a fix for that. Here are the steps I used to get it setup.

Download NM30.EXE from MS.
Create shortcut to the .exe file.
Right click on the shortcut and select "Properties".
Click the "Compatibility" tab.
Select "Run This Program In Compatibility Mode For:".
Select Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 5).
Click “OKâ€.

Double click the shortcut and install. NetMeeting now works in Vista.
