1. Why can't I "copy and paste" an address from the contacts list to the
body of an email?
Anyone else have problems with this feature that was workable in all other
MS emails I've had.

2. Changing the shortcuts to what is displayed in the TO: line in an email
is not a good feature INHO. Makes it more difficult to know to whom I'm
sending by looking at what shows in my mail headers of WLM.

I'm very open to suggestions for work arounds with these features I miss
coming from Outlook Express.

1. Open a contact(edit mode), select the data in a contact field, press Control C. Place the cursor in the body of an email and
press Control V

2. Unclear what you mean..do you want to view the full email address in the To: field ?

Thanks for your reply, Winston!

1. In the Edit Mode of a contact, I see the little "hand" that allows me
to "click." No cursor to "select." Feedback please.

2. No, not full address but a name "of my choosing" as in O.E. where the
"address book" had a place to fill in "display name." I'm adjusting but
can't say it is an improvement over O.E. <smile> Haven't used Win. Mail.

Re: contacts list - success report

Re #1: My bad! I was in the "Summary Mode" when trying to select. <blush>

When I went to the "Edit Mode" (as per your instructions!), the keystrokes
worked for me! I had been trying to "Select" and use the *right-click
menu* in Edit Mode which does not work for me.

The right-click menu has worked in MS "address books" since Win 95; I think
it really would be a good feature (update) to continue to work in the
"contacts" list in WLM.

Thanks again for your help.

1. If you were doing what I think you might have been doing - in a compose window, click the 'To' button and try to copy the name or address shown - then that doesn't work, as you've discovered. The 'picker' window is just a view of selected data from the contacts database. What you can do, though, is click the 'To ->' button in the picker window and copy the entry that appears. Then click Cancel and paste into the body of your compose window.

2. You have a Nickname field for a contact. That may be equivalent to the 'display name' 'of your choosing' in OE. If the Nickname field is empty, WLMail will populate the Name field with Firstname Lastname (or vice versa if you have that option selected at View > Show...), Company Name if there are no First or Last names or, failing all else, e-mail address. The Name field is what you see when you click the 'To' button in a compose window.

In your OP, I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'changing the shortcuts to what is displayed in the TO: line' - what shortcut are you changing? And if it's not a good idea, why are you doing it?

1 What Winston suggested works in the Edit Mode and with keystrokes.
Before posting I had been in Edit Mode trying to use a Right-Click menu
which
WLM must not offer.

Your way is a good option, Noel!! Thanks.

2. I imported my "address book" from Outlook Express to WLM "contacts"
and automatically got the shortcuts. Simply wasn't aware that if I delete
the shortcuts the names will show as I would like on certain emails.

Appreciate your pointing that out!

Barbara
