Hello all,
Is there yet a way to disable the silly emoticons from auto-appearing as I
type in WLM?
I know I can type it, then hit backspace, but honestly for anyone over about
14 years old, the
auto-typed emoticons/symbols, etc. are a complete pain.

It would be almost OK if the :) auto-smiley was the only one, but there
are all sorts of these
silly things that auto-appear when you type certain character strings.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeease Microsoft, let us disable these!!!

Compose in plain text rather than HTML.

Typing Control Z, immediately after the icon appears(when composing in Html)will remove the emoticon.

Yeah, I know...
But what an incredibly silly thing to have to do amongst the flow of being
an adult and working.
The default of that emoticon feature should be OFF with the capability for
13 year olds to turn it on; for Microsoft to make
the default ON and make 80% of the users have to do a workaround each time
is moronic.

It certainly can be a hassle if composing in html vs plain text(my and probably many other adults choice0

The best method to relay a user concern, is to Send feedback(on the Help menu).
