Downloading Service Packs

I recently received a response (in this forum) stating that it is possible
to download Windows Vista Service Packs 1 and 2 and have them available for
use by burning them to a CD. Sound great to me but I really need some
detailed help on how to do this. If I should be posting this to another
newsgroup, I would like to know which one. Thanks again for your help. (I am
using Windows Vista Home Premium.)

Just download the proper service pack (32-bit or 64-bit) and then burn
the downloaded file on a CD as you would any other file. Get the
service packs here:

How to obtain the latest Windows Vista service pack

It's really that simple, there isn't much "detailed" help to offer, you
download the files and then burn them to a CD.

I gave you a link for Vista SP2 in your last post.
You download the file and then save to a CD/DVD

Peter:
Thank you for helping. When I try to download the packs using the link
supplied I receive a message that my computer already has the Service Packs
installed. This is true but I am trying to create a back-up and not an
original installation. I guess that I just do not know enough about
downloading, copying and burning. Thanks anyhow for trying.

I am using W7 and when I click the links I get a window that asks if I want
to run or save.
Saving to a location of your choice will let you then copy to a CD/DVD

As I mentioned before I am using Vista and I see no choice "to save" in any
of the instructions. I have been at this for about 4 hours now. Time to give
up and forget it. Thanks anyhow.

Peter:

Thanks to your continued interest (plus your patience and perseverance) I
now have Windows Vista Svc Packs 1 and 2 on CD. I am glad to see that there
are still people like yourself who are willing to go the extra distance to
help others. I guess you recognize frustration and disappointment when you
see it. Thanks again.
