Gaming with Vista

Hey, I don't really know much about Vista, but I have heared that it's had
problems with games. First off, I'm thinking of purchasing a laptop that
comes with Windows Vista Home Premium. Now, I'm wondering, if the games I'm
going to be playing will work on it. I'm going to playing games such as:
F.E.A.R., Guild Wars, Counter Strike: Source and 1.6, Half Life 2, Age of
Mythology, maybe World of Warcraft and maybe Lineage II. So...Would these
games work with it?

From what I have heard, laptop gaming seems more problematic on Vista than
desktop gaming. I suspect it is because of the custom display chips embedded
into most laptops. If you get a laptop look for good Vista driver support.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the other answers people, but now I have another. How would I know
if the laptop has good Vista driver support? o_O Btw, if it helps, I'm going
to be getting a Sony VAIO VGNFZ180E.

I tried to downgrade a couple Sony VAIOs to Windows XP, god what a pain in
the ass. Most of the hardware doesn't have XP drivers.

Of course that's not your problem. All I can tell you is computers with
Vista usually have functioning drivers. What drivers are weaker than others,
I couldn't tell you.

Creative Labs sound cards aren't working too well (EAX borked), but most
notebooks don't have those
nVidia video drivers are having SLI problems (2 cards linked together. Most
notebooks don't have SLI)
ATi video drivers are running OK.

All drivers have issues of some sort, it's a new OS. The good news is you
can UPGRADE your drivers really easily, and usually for FREE on teh
Intarweb, assuming any problems that crop up are fixed. Nice thing about
bying a new computer is unless the compter is using archaic parts, support
will plentiful, and since most VAIOs don't have Windows XP drivers, ya gotta
figure the hardware was designed with Vista in mind...

So, yeah good luck.

Personally I hate VAIO, all flash, no substance. Buy Apple or Toshiba. (My
opition, I don't own or work for any of the above, I just sell em).
