Windows Mail has a known bug, where you have to save the pdf attachment to
disk before you can open it.

This happens to many users. Workaround is to save the attachment (f.i.
to your Desktop), and open it from there.

I have upgraded to the Windows Live Mail beta (which is due to replace
Windows Mail soon) and it does not have this problem - I just double click
and the PDF opens, for me in acrobat reader.

WLM beta is available here - http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas

Looks to me like he posted on the same day less than 12 hours after she did.

Mac,

I've read these replies regarding .pdf's and Adobe 8.0 We downloaded the
link and we still can't read .pdf's. Our systems states there was a problem
with Adobe and shuts down. Any other suggestions, outside of us removing
Vista all together?

I have the same problem when I try to get Adobe 8.1. Internet Explorer stops
working, shuts down and re-connects. Help!

And this is somehow related to Windows Mail? How?

The problem I have is in sending pdf attachments. Sometimes the emails do not
go at all (and no "undeliverable" message comes back to me), and sometimes
the recipients tells me he cannot open the file. If I log onto my Yahoo mail
account and attach it from there (on same computer) it sends just fine.

How large of an attachment are you trying to send?
Can you explain how you are trying to attach these pdf files?
Are you creating these pdf files?

Yes, I created it; it's just over one megabyte in this case, but it has also
happened with jpegs that were smaller than that. I just click the paper clip
in Windows Mail, browse for the file and attach it.

What happens when you send an email with the attachment to yourself?
(Sometimes the problem is at the other end.)

Are you running McAfee or Norton antivirus?

I can successfully send it to myself, but when I send it to my work email,
it's hit or miss -- sometimes it goes thru and sometimes not. The problem is,
I never get an "undeliverable" message when it does not go thru. So when I
sent out a newsletter to 100-plus people the other day, I prefaced it with an
email without the attachment, and a request to let me know if the second was
not received. So far I've gotten about a half-dozen responses to that effect;
when I re-sent using my on-line Yahoo account there was no problem.

I'm running Norton, and I disabled the outgoing email scan feature when I
first noticed a problem, but that hasn't made a difference.
